Asheville Sleep Consultant

At The Mothership, we believe in taking care of the whole family. That’s why we offer sleep consulting services. Lack of sleep is among the top complaints of families with babies and small children. The impact of getting less than five hours of uninterrupted sleep each night for months on end is felt by the entire family. It’s no wonder the divorce rate is higher during the first year postpartum than any other time in a marriage. It’s really hard to be your best self when you’re exhausted.

Our sleep consultant, Rachel Ansari, will work with your family to develop a personalized sleep plan that works with your goals at your pace. Many families practice Attachment Parenting in Asheville and around the globe, some consciously and others just because it’s what comes naturally to them . The eight principles of AP are really beautifully basic, Feed with Love and Respect, Use Nurturing Touch, etc. But the last principle really speaks to me and my philosophy on most things parenting related, Strive for Balance in Your Personal and Family Life. On the Attachment Parenting International website it goes on to say, “Balance is the Foundation Upon Which Attachment Grows” and I couldn’t agree more. It then states:
  • When in balance, family members are more able to be emotionally responsive
  • The best defense for feeling isolated is to look outward to create a support network in the local community
  • The child's needs must be a priority, and the younger the child, the more intense and immediate his needs. Even so, he is one piece of the complete family picture that also includes the needs of the parents as individuals and as a couple, siblings, plus the family as a whole. -From Attachment Parenting International

As you have likely figured out, parenting is very much about finding balance. If you lose balance you run the risk of losing yourself or your relationship and that’s certainly not what’s best for you or your baby. You cannot pour from an empty cup. This is one of those fabulous times when you can have your cake and eat it, too. You can have positive attachment and bonding with your baby and meet your own needs (and partner’s needs) for sleep. Sleep consulting services are very individualized. We offer everything from remote consulting services to in-home sleep support.
