Love Notes
From a first time Dad's point of view- Carrie is great at supporting both the mother and the father. Her calm and supportive manner was such a relief during my wife's pregnancy and birth. She spoke with me about my concerns (at 2 in the morning when I called freaking out) and really made the whole experience more relaxing. She has a lot of trust in the birth experience, and that attitude relaxed us as first time parents. I give her my highest recommendation. I would never want my wife go through birth without a doula. Worth more than every penny. I couldn't put a price on it.

"When expecting my second child, my husband and I decided to get a postpartum doula; I had struggled with being a new mom after my first birth. Molly was very supportive and offered much "Mama Wisdom". I felt safe and nurtured, she was more like a sister or a friend, I could voice my anxieties and be heard in a nonjudgmental way. It was nice to have her coming a few times a week during the day, when being alone with your infant can sometimes be overwhelming. She knew the right questions to ask and I felt very comfortable with her in my home during our transition. Thank you, Molly!"

I don't know how to begin a review of someone's friendship and service that has had such profound effects on my life. I've been trying to capture with words, the dedication, compassion, professionalism, and enthusiasm Carrie gave me during my pregnancy and birth of my second child. I gave her a tall order: help with a VBAC after a "failure to progress" C/S that left me as emotionally scarred as I was physically scarred. Carrie was so dedicated, providing me with every piece of birth knowledge I sought after (and bringing to me some I didn't even know I needed, but changed everything for me), and every ounce of emotional support I needed so desperately. She understood my fears and shared my hopes. The birth of my second child was a healing experience, and that was facilitated by Carrie's care for me, and for my family. I have been so blessed and honored to have her as a doula and a friend.

"Molly was comforting and knowledgeable and helped bring peace to our home in a crazy time. Dads know the hardest part of raising babies is taking care of mama. That's why you need a postpartum doula like Molly!"
-JM, father of three
When Rachel arrived, her positive presence was felt immediately...This allowed my wife to feel fully supported by me and Rachel both... My wife felt completely unsupported by me the first time around, because I was terrified and had no idea how to properly support her. The same would have been true this time too, but with Rachel’s guidance I was able to be the loving, supportive husband that my wife was in dire need of the first time round. Dr John H. Kennell is quoted as saying, "If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.” As a physician I believe this wholeheartedly. Rachel has made me a believer.

Michele offered fantastic services to our family. She is a friendly, experienced doula, has children of her own, and even has massage therapy and natural remedy skills to compliment her doula skills. She helped eliminate our stressors by going to our home to pick up some of our belongings and made us tea while we were in the hospital. Michele brought me postpartum bath herbs and gifts for our visit too. Michele was very patient, understanding, and easy-going when I was having emotional reactions and irritability during labor. I would highly recommend hiring Michele as a doula to other pregnant women. Thank you Michele for being our doula during a very special time.

Following the birth of my first child I realized how important hiring a postpartum doula was for a mother and her family. This became my one recommendation for any new mother. During my second pregnancy I realized my need for hiring a doula was more for the focus of nutritious meal preparation so that my husband and I could focus our time with our children and rest for ourselves. Molly was the perfect gift for our family during the three weeks following our daughter's birth. She made the most amazing food with attention to dietary restrictions and nurturing foods for a breast feeding mom. Each visit she prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner that fed our family for three days. Molly came into our home with comfort and confidence to nourish our needs. She also helped with grocery shopping, breast feeding questions, and baby wearing. Molly gave me time to rest and a boost of strength and confidence for me and my family. Thank you, Molly!

Carrie is an amazing doula! She was such a help to our whole family during the birth, and also postpartum. She also helped out so much with our two year old daughter. We had a home birth, but had some hemmoraging complications after the birth, and she stayed with my toddler so my husband could be with me, even though she had already been with us for a long 18 hours.
I had assumed that my husband would be the primary person to comfort me during labor and delivery. I was surprised to find that was not the case. My husband did a great job, and I loved having him there, but knowing that Carrie had been through this and could relate was what made me believe that I could do it. Her support made all the difference. Looking back on it now, I suppose I could have done it without Carrie's help, but I wouldn't want to. She made a very special experience even more special. I still keep in touch with her and give her regular updates on how our family is doing. I wholeheartedly recommend Carrie Hike. I honestly can't imagine anyone being better suited to the tasks and responsibilities of a doula.
She took amazing pictures of the birth and encapsulated my placenta for me. It was a beautiful experience. I had the supported and natural birth I wanted and I can't imagine going through that without the support of a doula. I highly recommend Carrie if you are looking for a doula.

"I was amazed to find how little time I had for myself following the delivery of my son. I was so grateful to have support from Molly. It was wonderful having help in the kitchen, doing laundry, or answering any of my thousand questions regarding babies. Molly is such an easy person to have in the home. She's very friendly and obviously loves babies and motherhood. I would highly recommend hiring a postpartum doula for all expecting families."
-KB, first-time mom
Nothing went as planned with the birth of our daughter, but with Carrie's presence we were thrilled with the support we received as we found our way through labor. Her calming presence was exactly what we had hoped for both before and during the birthing process. Her presence is consistent magic!

"Although this was my third baby, we asked Molly for her services when I began to struggle with postpartum depression. She helped our whole family tremendously. Not only did she help with simple tasks that I was unable to accomplish like laundry, dinner, and entertaining children; she also gave me tremendous emotional support, and motivated me to get the medical attention that I needed. Her knowledge of support options for new mothers and women in general led her to refer me to specialists that work with postpartum depression. This referral was invaluable to our family, as was all of our time spent with Molly. She is kind, gracious, respectful, and knowledgeable – I would not hesitate to recommend her services."
-EV, mother of three
I could not have asked for a better birth doula than Carrie! From our prenatal and postpartum meetings, to the actual birth, Carrie was so kindhearted, devoted, and well-informed. I'm a single mom, and she truly had my back. I felt I had both an expert and a friend with me in the delivery room.
As I thought about the whole experience later with my baby girl by my side, I realized having Carrie as my doula made the labor and delivery so much better- she helped me manage my fears and pain with both reassurance and sincerity, and brought a calmness that I needed. Carrie holds the utmost professionalism, and is a reliable, knowledgeable support person. I would absolutely recommend Carrie to anyone in the greater Asheville area.

“Molly was a true godsend when she worked with us after the birth of our first child! She came highly recommended…I did have a hunch that we would need help acclimating to life with a baby -truthfully I was pretty scared about the ways our lives would change. I know now that having Molly's services in those early weeks and months not only saved our sanity, but also allowed me to bond in amazing ways with our child. She truly took the fear away and seamlessly integrated her services in the exact ways we were needing them. Molly was an intuitive, creative, gentle, and helpful friend at the time we needed it most. And she made delicious (seriously, so so good) meals for us, while helping my baby sleep, and letting us take a nap. The best! We are still benefiting, years later, from Molly's knowledge and depth of experience.”

I hired Carrie as my birth doula, my placenta encapsulator, and my postpartum doula, and I have recently begged her to be my nanny and never leave. She is seriously incredible. Did I actually momentarily consider giving birth without a doula? I don't know if we could have done it without her. Or we could have, but it would have been miserable and stressful. I don't think my husband would have held it together without her. Her calm, positive and reassuring support was my lifeline. As a postpartum doula, she is the baby whisperer. And I swear she has 8 arms. How she managed to hold my baby while cheerfully and simultaneously juggling dogs, dishes and laundry while I took a nap leaves me baffled. I think it's because she has 4 kids. Or she's supermom. Or Mary Poppins. Whatever she is, she's obviously found her calling.she assures me that someday I will manage without her, but for now, I'm ordering a few more postpartum weeks. I give Carrie my highest recommendation!!!

Carrie was amazing during my birth. I can not recommend her enough- she is so comforting and nurturing and chill. She was just such a calming presence. I was able to relax into the experience, knowing that she had my back, and when I got a little panicky, she was right there to bring me down. Every laboring woman should have a doula, but if you're lucky you'll have Carrie!

I am so grateful to Carrie for her post-partum doula services! I had planned to hire Carrie for placenta encapsulation, but went into labor before she and I could confirm details! No matter. Carrie handled the last minute notice with grace and confident expertise. I had placenta pills waiting for me the day I arrived home from the hospital. I'm convinced of the wonders of placenta encapsulation. I've noticed a significant boost in energy levels. More importantly, I've found the transition into parenthood emotionally manageable and have avoided the baby blues. A huge relief given a family history of depression. And as an added bonus, Carrie makes beautiful placenta prints as well!
Working with Carrie was effortless and a pleasure. She is knowledgable, professional and incredibly caring and sincere. Whether you hire Carrie for birth or post-partum doula services, you'll benefit from her calm spirit and warmth. Thank you Carrie!
