I love taking continuing education workshops! Birth work is my passion. I seriously geek out on it! This weekend, I had the opportunity to take a Rebozo workshop with Ashley Collins of Little Bee Birth Partner. I came away from the workshop with some wonderful new (to me!) techniques that will help laboring women find comfort.
The rebozo is a traditional Mexican shawl that is long enough to wrap around a laboring woman's body. It is a versatile, multifunction laboring tool, and an extension of the doula's and partner's arms, and it can assist the birthing parent into various positions for relaxation and optimal birth positioning. After the baby is born, the rebozo can be used as a wrap to carry babies around.
I'm so excited to try out my new doula moves! It's likely some Asheville babies will soon come into this world with the help of a rebozo!
